Massive Car Fire Slows Traffic On I-75 Near Troy

TROY (WWJ) – Traffic was backed up late in the morning rush Wednesday along southbound I-75 near Troy due to a massive vehicle fire.

According to witnesses, a tow truck was hauling a car when one of them caught fire.

“The crews arrived and started dousing that,” WWJ’s John Bailey reported. “I saw the smoke earlier, but it looks like the fire is completely out.”

At 10 a.m., the two right lanes remained blocked at the scene.

Bailey said traffic was stop-and-go on southbound I-75 from Big Beaver up to Adams Road. Watch out for gawker traffic, too, on the northbound side.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. There has been no word of any injuries.
