Body found in James River behind Chesterfield plant

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police are investigating after a body was found in the James River behind a plant Sunday afternoon.

Officers were sent to the 1300 block of Bellwood Road around 12:30 p.m. after two fishermen saw vultures flying around the decomposed body.

The investigation has been turned over to the medical examiner to determine the identity of the person. No sex or age has been determined and officials do not know how long the body has been in the river.

Police are reaching out to other jurisdictions in regards to their missing persons’ cases and asking the public for any information they may have on the person’s identity.
