Sheriff’s Office issues warning after second attempted child abduction in Dinwiddie

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious incident where a man driving a car tried to pick up a 12-year-old boy walking in the Ford community. The boy walking from one family members house to another along the road. The man approached the boy in a black car around 5 p.m. in the 9900 block of Colemans Lake Rd., according to investigators.

The driver pulled up next to the boy and said he wanted to take him to a family members house. The boy became suspicious and ran to his family members home.

The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect description and car matches a suspect wanted for a similar incident last Tuesday.

Last week a similar incident happened in Dinwiddie County. Investigators are still looking for a man who attempted to abduct a 15-year-old Dinwiddie girl outside of her home on November 10. That incident took place on Flatfoot Rd.

“The male tried to have the female get into his vehicle, claiming that he was going to take her to her mother,” a Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s spokesman said. “The victim declined the request and attempted to walk away. The male suspect then grabbed the young victim and attempted to pull her into the vehicle. The victim broke free and ran to her residence where she called law enforcement.”

Investigators described the suspect as a black male wearing a hoodie. They said he was driving a flat, black in color, older model box shaped sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Caprice.

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office is advising parents to talk to their children and warn them of these types of situations.
