Weekend Events: Holly Jolly Christmas, Military Vehicle Fair, Anthem Richmond Marathon

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13 & 14

More two dozen businesses will participate in Lakeside’s 11th annual Holly Jolly Christmas on November 13 and 14. Shoppers will be able to ride the free Holly Jolly Trolleys along Lakeside Avenue between Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and Bryan Park Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shoppers will find vintage treasures, gourmet foods, unique gift items, home decor, and special sales and discounts. Santa Claus will be available for photos and donations will be collected for the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad. The Lakeside Farmers’ Market will host a special Friday night holiday market and its regular Saturday market (from 8 a.m to noon) Nov. 14, with a variety of homegrown and homemade food, clothing and gift items available for purchase from local vendors. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14

Helicopter, Tanks & Trucks Military Vehicle Fair – For the first time the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10657 in Ashland and the Virginia Military Vehicle Association are sponsoring a Military Vehicle Fair from 9am – 5pm. The event features a Huey Gunship Helicopter, M20 Armored Scout Car with a .50 caliber machine gun ring with driver and crew protected by armored plates – WWI, a T34 Russian Tank, M38 Jeep – Korea, 151 Jeep & Mule – Vietnam, and other Military equipment from WWI WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm. Many of the vehicles have been restored by members of the VAMVA and have been seen throughout Richmond. Children and adults will be able to touch, feel and climb aboard many of the equipment and members will be on hand to answer questions and share stories. InLight Richmond continues with its large format projections, light-inspired sculptures and interactive projects on the grounds of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Friday 7pm to midnight and Saturday 7pm to 10pm. Another Beer Festival to add to the growing list of festivals in the River City, Hops in the Park Harvest Festival is at Henricus Historical Park in Chesterfield (251 Henricus Park Road, Chester) Saturday, noon – 9pm, it is a celebration of Virginia agriculture. It features more than fifteen Virginia craft breweries, meaderies, and cideries, a Virginia Grown Farmers Market, food vendors and live music. A new Ice Rink opens for the Winter, The Rink at West Broad Village is now opened through January 18, 2016 at Short Pump at West Broad Village. The Ice Rink is located on “The Pad,” the grassy lawn across from Aloft Richmond West Hotel, (2301 Old Brick Road in Glen Allen). Adult admission is $10, children $8, and skate rental is $4.
