911 caller reports overhearing threat to bomb Hopewell Courthouse

HOPEWELL, Va. — The Hopewell Courthouse was evacuated Friday morning after a 911 caller reported overhearing someone threaten to bomb the building. Both Hopewell and Virginia State Police are investigating the threat.

Sheriff’s deputies, courthouse employees and inmates inside the courthouse were ordered out of the courthouse. Some Main Street businesses across from the courthouse were also evacuated as a precaution. Hopewell City Hall remains open and city officials are monitoring the situation.
